Philosophy In Practice
At Seasons of Change, therapy is a place to land.
We believe good therapy deeply intentional. Our clinicians bring expertise, specialized training, and genuine care to help you better understand your story, your patterns, and the parts of you that are ready to heal.
We are especially attuned to how identity, culture, family, relationships, trauma, and systems shape emotional life. We do not separate your pain from the world you have had to survive.
Our work is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that healing is not about becoming someone else. It is about coming home to yourself.
Modalities in practice
Good therapy is not just about the modality. It is about how skillfully, thoughtfully, and humanely it is practiced.
At Seasons of Change, our clinicians bring specialized training, clinical depth, and genuine care to the work. We draw from evidence-informed approaches, clinical wisdom, and years of experience helping clients understand the patterns, relationships, and protective strategies that have shaped their lives.
Depending on your needs, therapy may include parts work, mindfulness, emotional processing, attachment work, somatic awareness, skill-building, or deeper exploration of what you have carried and what is ready to shift.
Getting Started FaQs
-
Our therapists are all amazing, and we know it can be hard to choose who to work with.
You do not have to figure out the right therapist on your own. Reach out to us, share a little about what is bringing you to therapy, and our team can help match you with a clinician based on your needs, goals, availability, insurance, and preferences. We will use that information to get a snapshot of what kind of support may feel most aligned.
Some clinicians offer consultations, while others begin with an intake appointment. Either way, we will help guide you toward the next step and make sure you feel supported as you begin.
-
Some of our clinicians offer a free 10–15 minute consultation before scheduling an intake.
A consultation is a brief opportunity to begin the matching process and get an initial feel for the therapist. It will not give you the full picture of what therapy will be like, but it can help you notice whether the clinician’s presence, style, and approach feel like a possible fit.
You do not need to know exactly what to say or where to start. If you have never had a consultation before, or if talking about what brings you to therapy feels overwhelming, your clinician will help guide the conversation. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
During the call, you may talk a bit about what is bringing you to therapy, what kind of support you are hoping for, and any questions you have about the clinician’s approach or areas of focus. Your clinician may also share more about how they tend to work and whether their style and experience seem aligned with your needs.
From there, your clinician can help you decide whether to schedule an intake or explore another therapist on our team. Either way, we are here to support you through the process.
-
Your first session is a chance for you and your therapist to begin getting to know one another. We will ask questions to get a fuller snapshot of you and what brings you to therapy. We’ll ask what has been feeling difficult, your history, relationships, strengths, current supports, and what you are hoping may change.
You also have space to get a feel for us. The first session is also an opportunity to notice whether you feel comfortable, understood, and supported by your therapist.

-
Yes, we offer clinical letters including emotional support animal (ESA) letters for New York residents, gender-affirming care documentation, and accommodation or return-to-work letters.

-
Yes, all of our clinicians accept insurance, though insurance options depend on the therapist, your specific plan, and whether the services you are seeking are covered under your benefits.
Insurance can feel confusing, and we are happy to help walk you through what to look for, including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, telehealth coverage, and whether your therapist is in-network with your plan.We also recommend confirming your benefits before beginning therapy so there are fewer surprises around cost.

Yes. Some clinicians offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots based on financial need, availability, and fit.
We may also have reduced-fee openings with a supervised clinical intern. Interns receive close supervision and are part of our broader clinical team, allowing us to offer more accessible therapy while still providing thoughtful, supported care.
Reduced-fee options are discussed before beginning services and may be reviewed periodically.
